What is quickly becoming one of New York City’s most highly anticipated shows of the year, Fun Lovers Unite! An Evening of Music, Comedy, and Gun Sense announced today a second round of performers for their May 11 show at the Highline Ballroom. Headliners Yo La Tengo the stars of HBO’s acclaimed series Doll & Em, Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells, as well as comedians Janeane Garofalo and Jon Glaser join an all-star line up of comedians and musicians.

The new acts will take the stage alongside previously announced performers including comedians John Hodgman, Jeanne Darst, and Josh Gondelman and musicians Bambi Kino and Tammy Faye Starlite.

Fun Lovers Unite! benefits the Manhattan Chapter of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. The Manhattan chapter develops and implements extensive public health and safety programs and utilizes the courts to reduce gun violence.

“Like the rest of the American people, I’ve just had enough of the gun violence that devastates our communities every day,” said performer Tammy Faye. “So for me, it was clear cut and an honor when presented with the opportunity to perform at this event. There is so much each of us, in our own way, can do to fight for sensible solutions and for the 90 people killed by gun violence each day.”

The event is produced by friends Joshua Mills of Los Angeles and Brooklyn’s Maccabee Montandon, both fathers to young children, who have had enough of the epidemic of gun violence in America. Montandon’s brother, Asher, was shot and killed during an attempted robbery in 1992.

The first event in Los Angeles featured Kurt Braunohler, Neil Hamburger, Tim Heidecker, Jenny Lewis, Sarah Silverman, Mike Watt & The Secondmen and many more. The event is being produced by friends Joshua Mills in Los Angeles and Maccabee Montandon in Brooklyn; they are both dads of young children who want to do more to prevent gun violence in America. Josh felt sickened and then galvanized following the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in 2012. Mac’s brother, Asher, was murdered with a gun during an attempted robbery in Los Angeles in 1992.

The Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence, united with the Million Mom March, is a national network of over 90 grassroots chapter affiliates mobilized to prevent gun violence at the community level. The network has played a vital role in expanding Brady background checks in the six states that have passed legislation since the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut and produced the largest national protest of gun violence in U.S. history - The Million Mom March, Mother’s Day 2000.
