Hailing from Rockford, IL, where his father Rick Nielsen's band Cheap Trick also got started, singer-songwriter Miles Nielsen and his band The Rusted Hearts have shared new track "Is This Life" and announced a guitar giveaway contest via Premier Guitar. The announcement arrives just over a week before the release of Miles Nielsen and the Rusted Hearts' third LP, Heavy Metal (April 29 via Rotown Records). Also just announced are new tour dates added to the band's already extensive US tour, including summer dates in Mexico.

In anticipation of next week's album release, Premier Guitar and The Rusted Hearts have teamed up to offer a Limited Edition Hofner HCT-VTH-MOG for giveaway. You can enter now by clicking here; the contest will also appear in Premier Guitar's next print edition. Also available aside the link to enter the contest is new track "Is This Life," which follows RedEye's acclaim for "Heavy Metal" and Consequence of Sound's love for "Strangers."

Though Miles will always bear that helpful Cheap Trick association, "Is This Life" differs from the power-pop sound that Rick Nielsen and his crew are known for. Instead, Miles opts for a more rootsy, folk-rock feel that might sit well with fans of Wilco, The War on Drugs, and Fleetwood Mac. The sound present here continues throughout Heavy Metal, which is Miles' first release since 2011 LP Presents the Rusted Hearts. This sophomore effort garnered attention from outlets such as PopMatters, who described it as "full of thoughtful, comfy-cozy roots rock." Having shared the stage with artists including Dr. Dog and Rhett Miller, the group will be embarking on a US tour, which began last Friday in Chicago and continues throughout the summer. Among the dates listed below are newly announced dates in cities including Milwaukee, St. Louis, Oneonta, and Grand Rapids.
