kanehollerLos Angeles recording artist KANEHOLLER – Jon Foster and Chelsea Tyler – recently completed their first official releases with the February 13th release of Vol. 3, the third installment in their three EP series simply titled Vol. 1, Vol. 2, and Vol. 3.  The EPs were all written, recorded, and produced from their home studio in Venice Beach.  As a whole, the collection escalates in intensity, each one representing a phase of the band’s evolution from lo-fi trip-hop to big production, to dance-driven electronica.  TeenVogue called the debut single “Someone New” an, “Unforgettable debut.”

Jon and Chelsea originally met in the summer of 2011 when their good friend Zoe Kravitz introduced them. Both of them were living in Brooklyn pursuing alternate careers – Jon acting and Chelsea modeling. A mutual passion for jazz, soul, and electronic music fostered a creative partnership. Shortly after meeting, they moved to Los Angeles and set up a home studio to make music under the name Badbad. Upon discovering other musicians with that name, they dug into their roots to find an alternate moniker. KANEHOLLER is the name of a bamboo forest on Chelsea’s grandfather’s land in the south. "Kane" is a Gaelic name meaning "battle" and holler means "to cry out", translating to "battle cry".

During winter 2013, they played their first show at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Soon after, the band became a hotly-tipped live act with performances at Art Basel, The Sayers Club, School Night!, The Troubadour, and The Satellite Theatre. In 2014, Consequence of Sound and BlackBook caught their energetic performance at Made In America, with the later stating,

“One of the most exciting new sounds from this weekend's festival was that of KANEHOLLER…Chelsea Tyler and Jon Foster blend jazzy blues with futuristic vibes, creating poignant music that bends time.”

The latest installment in the EP series, Vol. 3, was created with the live show in mind and capturing the spirit of the performance. The lead single “Paper Games” harnesses that late-night energy of a filled dancefloor moving as one underneath the city lights. KANEHOLLER is excited to bring these grooves on the road this spring, starting with their SXSW debut. Immediately following, they join The Ting Tings for a five-week, cross-country tour. The run kicks off in California at the House of Blues (San Diego) on March 23rd, The Fonda Theatre (LA) on the 24th, The Regency Ballroom (SF) on the 26th, and then makes its way across the country hitting hot spots such as Thalia Hall (CHI), Paradise Rock Club (BOS), Webster Hall (NY), 9:30 Club (DC), before ending at the Granada Theatre in Dallas, Texas on April 23rd.
