True to their name, The Revivalists lean more heavily on the older styles and warmer sounds of the golden age of rock 'n roll, but the band isn't afraid to dabble in electronics and sleight-of-studio when it's right for the song. There's more to true "revival" than simply bringing a dead sound back to the world. You have to imbue these sounds with new life. Otherwise, you're music is just a stale clone of your betters. New Orleans' blues rockers The Revivalists understand the term that gives them their name.
A new live video for "Monster" has been launched on Baeble Music. This of the songs off The Revivalists' upcoming new record, "Men Against Mountains," and it's a masterclass in jazzy blues-rock. Vocalist David Shaw's dusty cadence swirls around the tight jazz-blues of the rest of the band, and a perfectly understated saxophone line underscores the action. It's the sort of track you'd play during an early summer barbecue as the sun goes down and your family/friends gather around the fire and you talk about life and your hopes for the rest of the year. It has a communal energy.
"Men Amongst Mountains" an be pre-ordered from Pledge Music. The Revivalists' project gives fans the ability to receive personal gifts such as a handpicked postcard from the tour with a message from the band, a disposable camera with pictures taken on the road, or even a handwritten lyric sheet of your favorite Revivalists song.
We love these guys at Fearless Radio and cannot wait to see their set at Taste of Randolph in a couple of weeks!
