In the run up to the release of his already critically lauded debut album, Black Hours, Hamilton Leithauser recently spoke to Carrie Brownstein (Portlandia, Wild Flag, Sleater-Kinney) for veritable music site The Talkhouse. The pair of veteran musicians discuss the transition into becoming a solo artist, as well as their shared experiences of performing live among many other topics. Additionally, they preview tracks from Hamilton's new album, including live recordings from his performance at Joe's Pub. This marks the very first episode of The Talkhouse’s podcast series. Visit http://thetalkhouse.com to hear the interview.
Last month, Leithauser made his non-Walkmen live debut with his new band and a string and horns section when he performed songs from Black Hours at an intimate Joe’s Pub show in New York City. NPR Music have an audio stream of the performance HERE. Black Hours will be released on June 3rd via Ribbon Music.
Leithauser has also announced additional dates this summer, including stops in Nashville, Louisville, Cambridge, Philadelphia and his hometown of Washington, D.C. The lineup for these shows will consist of Leithauser, Paul Maroon, Nick Stumpf, and Kevin Barker. These come off the heels of recent confirmed dates with both Ray LaMontagne and Death Cab For Cutie, and an appearance at Newport Folk Festival. Full list of dates below.
For a taste of the live show, watch Leithauser and his band performing the album's buoyant first single, “Alexandra" on Conan.
"Alexandra" was also made available as a limited edition 7” on this year’s Record Store Day, backed with exclusive b-side “In The Shallows.” CLICK HERE to stream both tracks.
