NYC’s own Lolawolf - fronted by Zoe Kravitz and featuring Jimmy Giannopoulos and James Levy of Reputante – have premiered the video for their new single, “Summertime,” via InterviewMagazine.com. The video was produced by Jimmy himself and features city scenes from Bones Brigade’s “Future Primitive.”
Says Jimmy of his creation, "When I was a kid I would watch Bones Brigade's ‘Future Primitive’ every summer. I cut up my favorite part on my phone using an app in between mixing songs, threw ‘Summertime’ over it, and landed a future lo-fi kinda video."
Last week, the track reached #2 on Hype Machine’s Twitter Chart and was included in Sirius XMU Download 15 countdown. The band plans to release details of new music in the coming weeks.
LOLAWOLF is a trio from New York fronted by Zoë Kravitz. The band includes Jimmy Giannopoulos and James Levy from Reputante (whose EP is out on Julian Casablancas’ label, Cult Records). Lolawolf recorded their five song debut EP over a ten day stretch last summer in Los Angeles; a “sleep-deprived experiment among friends.” (Interview Magazine). The sound of the EP has been described as “surging electronic pop” (Pitchfork); “synth-pop, held together by Kravitz’ smoky, relaxed voice” (The Fader); and “electro-tinged alt-R&B” (SPIN). Neon Gold called lead track "Drive (Los Angeles) “a perfect piece of distinctive, melody-driven, back-to-the-future synth candy." A follow-up, recorded recently in The Bahamas, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, finds the band incorporating big beat, hip-hop and tropical elements into their sound.
